I like it when i hear something coming out of a characters mouth that makes me stop ooc and think F**k, did i just say that, partly because it means you learn the lengths that you will go too. remind me to tell you about the artificer story, it still shocks me.
there is nothing odd about realising something new about a characters personality, its the major part of the game for me.
