Ok, I've been playing around with stuff and I want an opinion. Which of these text effects and fonts do people like better on the image?

Header two is the best of a bad bunch. I'd recommend using a deeper shade of orange, somewhere around about #FF3300 when it comes to RGB. Perhaps include a dark inline as in header three. It may also be less confusing to the eye (and thus less migrane-inducing) if the Drunk on Caffeine text was mostly, as opposed to having it blurred so as to blend in almost as if it were a facet of the background.

Giving "Drunk on Caffiene" more prominence in the banner by increasing the font size or moving it to a slightly more central location may also be an idea to consider, as presently the text is the same approximate size as that on the Red Bull can. Equally, the can could be reduced in size a bit with roughly the same net effect.

Further to that, I'd personally shy away from using a registered trademark in the main banner for my website, but each to their own.

Trust me on this one. I did a whole metric shitload of Graphic Communication in Standard Grade and Higher and came out on top. I know my colour theory.

P.S: Could you provide me with the .PSD (or other source file) for this image? I'd like to tweak it a bit to see what I can come up with. Mailto jmw3 at the good ol' Hw place.

oh and i just added 2 with the inline - i;d removed it before due to preferring it the other way.

The colour change can't really be done - used several pre-built scripts to create the logos and that one doesn;t have colour change variables

I prefer Header 3, it's clearer than the rest...much easier to read.

I prefer three. It's clearest to read, and whilst Jaxeth is right that it is pretty much the same size as the lettering on the can, that doesn't detract from it. wing to the fact that people automatically read left to right (like you didn't know that) the focus is on the title rather than the can, which appears in the role of an illustration. It also is less prominent than the neon writing, making the can flatten into the background, so it doesn't seem part of the title.

I think Jaxeth is right and you could make the writing a bit bigger without it hurting, but I think it's better in the position it is rather than centralised. I think the neony effect is funky, picking up the way your brain buzzes when you're sleep-deprived and on caffeine!

I also think 3 is prettiest because I like the font and it's blue! I like blue.

This sort of essay is what happens when you ask perfectly innocent questions of someone who used to study art. Sorry.

and I don't mind essay-type answers as long as they're short and paragraphed and that was short enough.

and liking one simply because of colour and font is ok with me :)

oh and perfectly innocent and open questions deserve long-winded complicated answers designed to deter the questioner away from the subject they were talking about in the first place.

the lack of capitalisation is what happens when you present a geek who hasn't slept with a keyboard and somewhere to type when they're naturally too lazy to press the shift key which is right under one of their fingers...

I'm actually quite inclined to say I prefer the original sizing! That may just be me being a woman and saying "Change it all! No, wait, put it all back, I liked it better", but I think that the title comes to close up to the edge of the can now! The separtion between illustration and text is lost, but that could be a good effect. I'd be inclined to leave it as it was.

But then, I may be developing snow blindness and not be reliable any more...

i think 8s possibly the best, the text is clear to read, the colours are nice and complimentary to the can, and the text is the largest there so it just makes it easier to read
